April Showers Bring May Flowers

Wow, I’ve taken quite a sybatical from my blog. Its high time I get back into it before it disappears into the abyss.

As they say, ‘March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb’. This past March sure lived up to that statement. I clearly remember, at the turn of February, it was cold, damp and wet–not the rainy wet we normally get here on the Sunshine Coast–the wet that falls in the formation of fluffy white flakes. It never accumulated on the ground, not like it did in some places, because it always warmed up enough so it was too mild for the snow to stick, but not warm enough for precipitation to fall as rain either.

As March progressed, it became increasingly stormy. Almost every day featured a wind storm. These wind storms were never fierce. No damage was done in the course of these wind storms, at least that was the case here on the coast. Then, towards the end of the month, the sun came out more and the temperatures slowly began to rise. The last day of March was blessed with sunshine and warmth. It was great to be outside on that day.

Now April has finally come. Spring is progressing, but the weather seems to have relapsed into winter. It is wet and cold, the temperature peaking no higher than 6 degrees. It is disappointing to have to wear layer upon layer of clothing at this time of year and to be stuck indoors all day because of incessant rain. But, I’m positive that this is only a cold front and it will get warmer and sunnier within the next few weeks. As they say, “April showers bring May flowers”. Hopefully that statement is true to this year’s spring season. I’m crossing my fingers.
