This Sunday, my six sentences are going to come from my WIP, ‘To be Maria’. Actually, in one way, ‘To be Maria’ is not a work in progress because I completed it and am now onto the editing/revision part of it.
‘To be Maria’ follows the story of two seventeen-year-old girls who, in their quest for popularity, befriend people who have dangerous connections that will put their lives at stake.
The two main characters are:
Anya Preschnikov–poor and underestimated aspiring actress.
Maria Hernandez–Incredibly gorgeous girl from Spain, but very rebellious.
The following six sentences are taken from Anya’s point of view.
Unlike most other girls in her school, she never has to rummage through her closet in search of the perfect outfit. Oh God, here we go again. Now, for the same jeans, faded tank-tops, baggy t-shirts and sweatshirts. I can’t wait until the day comes where I can throw away these ugly hand-me-downs. I just wish I had the money to buy new clothes, fashionable clothes, the ones all the other girls wear to school every day. Anya traces her finger over the delicate cloth of her one and only bohemian-style summer dress.
